Starting to feel like you’re working harder and harder but not making enough progress? Want to recapture lost minutes every day? Try some of these ideas to save time and money for parents that will help you reclaim your sanity and hours:
- Store bibs on your high chair. Have you ever been without a bib when you needed it most? Stop the madness by adding a Command hook to the back of your baby’s high chair. After you’ve washed and dried bibs, simply hang them on the hook, and they’ll be waiting for you.
- Cool foods like oatmeal with frozen fruits. You want your baby to enjoy his hot cereal, but you have to wait for it to cool. Speed up the process by adding a few frozen blueberries, sliced strawberries or raspberries into the bowl. Stir repeatedly, and they’ll bring the temperature down quickly, reducing the time it takes to get from preparation to table.
- Cover the nursery door latch. Have you ever walked into the nursery only to have a sticky, loud latch wake up your sleeping little one? Put duct tape over the latch and you’ll have clear-cut entry into the room without making a sound.
- Use bandages in novel ways. When you’re traveling with your roving toddler, you may not always have access to clear outlet covers. That’s where Band-Aids can come into the picture. Simply use a large bandage as a temporary outlet cover, and you’ll feel much safer.
- Make the trampoline safer. Even if your trampoline has a soft fence surrounding it, your child might experience boo-boos from exposed trampoline springs. Fortunately, a quick way to fix this problem is to cut pool noodles to size and cover the springs with them.
- Let your child play with paint a cleaner way. Tired of cleaning up paint messes? Put paints into large freezer bags and allow your child to push the colorful liquid this way and that way. Your son or daughter will have sensory fun, and you won’t have to get out the dishwashing liquid or detergent.
- Use baking soda to remove splinters. Kids and splinters go hand-in-hand, so be prepared by having baking soda on hand. When your child has a splinter, cover the affected area with a paste made from baking soda and water. Let it sit, covered with a bandage, and the splinter will naturally start to work its way out. After a couple of hours, you should be able to more easily remove it.
- Grab WD-40 for crayon marks. Did your budding Picasso decorate the walls with her latest crayon creations? You can turn to WD-40 to get rid of the greasy artwork without leaving behind any residue. And those marker stains on wooden furniture? Toothpaste can be your secret weapon!
- Add traction to socks. Find your son or daughter sliding around the floors on slippery socks? Reduce the chance of an accident by adding traction via puffy paint. Simply apply it to the bottom of the socks, let it dry and the socks should be good to go.
- Throw veggies into fruit smoothies. Have a picky eater on your hands? Toss a few bland veggies, such as pureed carrots or even cauliflower, into a sweeter fruit smoothie or smoothie pop. That way, your son or daughter will get nutrients without the fuss.
- Keep a Thermos of hot water with you. Need to quickly heat up a baby bottle? A Thermos filled with hot water is all you need when you’re on the go.
